Got questions?

You're not the first.
Here are some common questions people like you are asking.
Q: Who was the phone intended for?
A: The phone was developed at the request of many American yeshivas in Eretz Yisrael who are struggling to teach and build a kesher with their bochurim, who are accustomed to using a variety of open devices — some more problematic than others. These yeshivas were looking for a solution that would provide the functionality the bochurim "need" while removing the distractions so they can learn Gemarah and enjoy it!
Q: Does that mean this phone is recommended for everyone?
A: No, of course not. The ideal is no phone at all — or at most, a fully kosher talk only device. Technology should be used only to the extent that it’s truly needed. The whole idea is to use the least you need and give yourself the opportunity to enjoy the luxury of life.
Q: Now that this phone is uncrackable, does that mean I don't have to worry about anything else?
A: Not at all. There’s more to worry about with phones than just inappropriate content. One of the biggest issues is distraction — or if you prefer the word — addiction. Phones interfere with your focus, your learning, your tefillah, and your life.

This phone includes only essential utilities — nothing extra, nothing designed to pull you in. But even with that, every person must be mindful not to become dependent on or overly attached to any device. And of course, it goes without saying: no device, even voice-only kosher, should ever be brought into a beis medrash during learning or davening.
Q: Now that you say your phone is uncrackable and even offer $500 — that’s brave! Does that mean it really is uncrackable?
A: The truth is — no. In technology, there’s no such thing as impossible. But we try our best. We’ve built this phone from the ground up to be as tamper-proof as possible, with no shortcuts and no loopholes. We care about the end product - not having a product.

We’re realistic, though. One day, someone may find a way around it — and when that happens, we want that person to come to us first, not spread it around. That’s why we offer $500 to the first person who can demonstrate a real breach.

So far, baruch Hashem, no one has gotten through. Not even close. There was one very minor issue— but nothing that came anywhere near the open internet.
Q: Who is the hechsher or rabbanim behind Megalife?
A: The phone wasn’t created by a single rav or organization. It was built by individuals who have spent over a decade working in both technology and chinuch. They understand the technical challenges and the educational needs — with one goal in mind: to support bochurim, not fight them. A high-quality, easy-to-use, properly locked device at a fair price can encourage more people to choose protected phones.

Klal Yisrael is large and diverse, with many types and levels, each facing their own challenges. Our goal is to provide a tool that can help each person or institution meet their own standards and needs.

Each mosad makes its own halachic and hashkafic decisions, just as it does in other areas of chinuch. Because many mechanchim are not familiar with all the technological details, we take the time to explain the inner workings of each app and system. This helps them make informed decisions — based not on assumptions or hearsay, but on real understanding.

When serious questions come up, they are brought to ziknei hador. These gedolim hear the full picture — the background, challenges, and risks — and then offer their hadrachah, which we follow carefully.
Q: Cheap? You’re charging three times the price of the same-looking device online or in a goyish store?!
A: Good question. There are a few steps to understand:

• In the general public, a small order is 500,000 devices. In the kosher world, a big order is 10,000–20,000.

• As we all know, filtering, locking, and maintaining kosher phones is a lot of work — and as technology evolves, it only gets harder.

• It's not a one-time development. Even though we charge only once, every time an app is updated, we have to be on call.

• We want you to enjoy the phone. We’ve upgraded the software, memory, bands — and continue to — to make your experience better.

• P.S. The more we sell, the less we can charge. Test me.
Q: Which apps are included on the device?
A: The phone is not sold with fully custom app selections. To simplify, it works by category. For example, if you have "Drive," you'll automatically have all the major navigation and parking apps. So if you're traveling to a different city or country, you won’t be stuck until you reach us — just go to Utilities and download what’s there.
Q: Do you have every driving app and bank app?
A: We’re slowly adding apps as requests come in. Remember — we’re going for quality. It’s a process. Every app needs to be approved, checked, and tested before being pushed live.

At the same time, we reserve the right to remove any app at any time, without prior warning, if an issue arises.
Q: Why aren't Google Maps, or different weather apps allowed ? I like the other one better.
A: This isn’t a smartphone — it’s a minimalist phone. The goal is not to offer every option or customization. As long as we have one app that does the job safely, we’re not adding others — especially not ones that are more prone to problems.

For example, Google Maps is powerful, but like many Google apps, it opens the door to risks. Since we already include Waze, we stay away from Google Maps. The same goes for weather — we choose one app that works and is secure. This isn’t about preferences. It’s about staying focused, clean, and safe.
Q: Is this phone still in beta? What should I expect?
A: The phone is currently just past the beta stage. Our goal is to build a solid, lasting, high-quality device — one that’s properly locked, kosher-locked, and also convenient to use.

We’re constantly working to improve based on user feedback. Whether it’s about usability, functionality, or convenience, we welcome your suggestions. Just keep in mind: things take time. We have a long list of potential improvements and prioritize based on demand and feasibility.

Please be patient — we truly value every good suggestion and hope to get to all of them in time.
Q: Why do you say this isn’t a smartphone? It looks like one. Isn’t this just a smartphone in disguise?
A: Great question. But let’s ask back — what is a smartphone? Is it the touchscreen? The apps? The operating system? The look? What really defines a smartphone?

Here’s how we see it: A smartphone is a device built for endlessness — endless content, apps, distractions. Even “filtered smartphones” are still smartphones with some limits layered on top. But the core is still built for everything.

This phone is different. It’s not about blocking an open system — it’s about building a minimal, purpose-driven phone from the ground up. It focuses on what you need and nothing more. Not how it looks, but what it does — and what it doesn’t.

Yes, we rely more and more on technology for banking, travel, verification, and daily needs. Voice-only doesn’t work for everyone anymore. That’s reality. But that doesn’t mean we need to accept distraction and overload.

A minimalist phone gives you just what’s necessary to function — and no more. No browser. No filtered browser. No news feeds. Just clean tools to help you get through the day without pulling you in.

It’s not about hiding the tech. It’s about redefining what a phone should be. A phone you can feel good about. A phone that gives you the luxury of less.
